Well Scott and I got out today with a new adventure in mind. We came across an old diversionary channel parallel to the creek. We asked the property manager who has been mining the property for over 20 years about this anomaly. He immediately knew where I was speaking of and told me that not only could we dig there but would we dig there. Turns out he had been wanting to work this area for a long time but due to health reasons for the last several years he was never able to. So he asked would we be willing to check it out and of course I jumped at the possibility of virgin ground with full permission to work any way necessary. So today we began step one. Clear an area and dig a test hole to gravel from over burden. The following pics are of our work today. Once through the root layer digging when well, then... Gravel! and big rock. You can see the difference of material from the overburden to the right and the material on the tarp...

Get to run any yet. That looks pretty cool. Would be fun to get out of the water and do something like that.

I did three test pans from one layer to next. All I can say now is we found gold, not large, not much, 2 specs of fly poop. lol A crap load of garnet, hematite, magnetite, and zircon...

Gotta get deeper, about another foot or two. We just got to the top of the bench at the end of the day and did not test it.

You guys work too hard for your gold. Makes my back ache just to watch. Lol. That diversion ditch runs parallel to the river today. You could be on some gold if you keep digging. Good luck.

With the leaves off all the trees, I expected poor lighting. Got a shot or two that may work for something. At least I can use them to rattle the "posers." Lol. We will try again soon. Anyone else ready to get under the camera?

Well Loki and I got started with the video with Indy. The environment tested that lol, quiet nothing but water running. My brother takes vids all the time of us doing things mainly while constructing, but its no prescribed videos (he always catches me off guard doing something funny). A bit hard to do when Loki and I got an idea what we focusing on for that day and having to stop progress for camera time. Now if ya (Indy) would have let us proceed like any other day, probably we wouldn't been so "stiff". Yesterday, we had a hole to punch through, didn't know how deep it would be, for that matter wasn't 100% sure we would hit cemented hard-pack that hasn't seen daylight in a couple hundred years. Like last year in the creek the funny moments happen unexpectedly. Step into a deeper hole and go for a brief swim, Loki and I having an awesome day finding pickers in the ID mat hence our "Everything is Awesome" comes out of no where;trip over a rock in the hole we working and face plant into the mud. After digging that hole yesterday, I got out a few times, each time going crap, nothing to pull myself out of the deep hole. Finally sunk the head of axe into the top side and crawled out using the axe handle to pull up on. Four and half feet deep hole, only big enough for 1 person to dig in; 2 foot wide and 4 foot long, a great test hole. More digging required still, have to widen the hole so we can efficiently work it, But got an awesome start yesterday, found a couple tiny specks of gold, but it was strictly prospecting yesterday. I now have an understanding why Parker on "Gold Rush" gets annoyed with the camera crew. I'm a get it done person, i love to dig stumps out by hand, or just dig, this was no different except for the stalling of my digging time with camera time. At my house, I dug out a dogwood tree 6 yrs ago. My pit was 5 foot circle and 4 feet deep. Mounds of dirt around all the sides, a friend came over end of that week and thought a meteor crashed there, my crater was so big, that was a week of hand digging in hard clay during the summer. Yesterday, the ground was soft, so after getting pass the root layer, it was easy digging till I hit gravel and of course rocks cemented in. Yes, Im feeling sore today, but had to work 8 hrs on top of yesterday's digging, but got a lot done too. By the pictures above yall can see why I get the job of digging a post hole (yes I use a post hole tool for posts, but no stranger to digging a hole) Lmao..
