Has anyone heard a rumor about USA returning to gold backed dollars this fall? They gotta do something to save it!

I don't think there's enough gold in the world to back the US dollar, much less the USA having that much!!

They figured in 2009 that all the Gold mined to date in the world would be around 165,000 metric tons or about $8.5 trillion and our countries debt is 18 trillion...it will never happen.

If they went to gold backed dollars we would lose all personal gold, and no longer have the right to mine it.

No way we ever go back to gold backing. Well I see several ways this could happen, all not voluntarily. Several things could happen either alone or together that would make our dollar worthless almost over night. I wont go into all of the possibilities but they are very well discussed and a very little bit of google searching and you can read for days. If the paper dollar becomes worthless, then those with silver and gold will be the only ones purchasing anything.

I was really thinking voluntarily.
