A window of time just opened in Yosemite National Park when nature photographers wait, as if for an eclipse, until the moment when the sun and earth align to create a fleeting phenomenon. This marvel of celestial configuration happens in a flash at sunset in mid-February — if the winter weather cooperates. On those days the setting sun illuminates one of the park's lesser-known waterfalls so precisely that it resembles golden lava as it flows over the sheer granite face of the imposing El Capitan.

It usually turns into a lava like fall but this year it turned gold. I guess as far as i can tell from the news stories.

I made a second trip there in '97 for a few days. It's an amazing place. Headed to Montana this summer for gold and sapphires if I can beg some time off from work.

Mark, I will be headed to Helena and areas around there. Going to Hamilton, MT for a visit and Wallace, Idaho. Plan on hitting some rivers around Phillipsburg and surrounding areas. Did the California thing last time and spent a couple of months in Idaho but never spent much time in Montana. It's a huge state. Wish I had more time to check it out. Of course, all this depends on if I can use some vacation time. They wouldn't let me take but one day at a time last year. Sux. Wouldn't it be cool if we could hook up for a day or two and do some prospecting together?
