Is deep V matting with expanded metal a good sluice bed underneath dredge riffles. I have the 3" proline configured this way at the moment. I know migration is a issue because of the expanded metal. I figured a simple bead of silicone could fix this. I wanted to hear you thought on this set up. Or some of you experiments on sluice bed configurations.

Deep V under expanded metal is the best collection system out there IMHO, however, you need the correct size expanded metal for your water flow and you need to classify the larger rocks and I mean over 1/4 out where they can not get to the expanded metal. If your expanded metal is tight enough to the deep V matting, you should not have any migration as long as no larger pebbles get in there to interrupt the flow or knock the gold loose.

Just expanded over deep v? I thought it went like expanded then miners moss then deep v.

We are talking about fines and super fines. Look at the beach boxes they use in nome, deep v only. There are several cleanup sluice systems that use deep v only. With proper classification and water flow, you can't beat it for fine gold recovery and that is what we usually are dealing with.

You must not be referring to the creeks I am in
