Wow I just try to knock it back in with a quick thump.. And then get some jet dri.. It always seems to float when I am like at the good moment of having it all out of the black sand.. LOL

Fine gold will float almost anytime you let air get too it, it dries off quickly, if you keep it under water you're good to go.
I don't have any pictures, but I enjoy showing people that have never panned how gold will float.

I was panning in the rocky river, still a newbie at the time, seen a flat piece of gold come out of my pan, and float on the river water tension.

This creek is really bad to float gold because it has a lot of oil in it. Not sure where it's coming from. You can dip a pan in the creek, let it dry in the sun and see/feel oil left in the pan. Makes for cool video though. Lol.

Makes for cool video though. Lol. I have a creek like that, you can see the oil slick on top of the water. There are also some sort of chemicals in there that ate through the seal on the water pump for my 2" dredge.
