You can make dredges with adjustable legs for small creeks. That HB conversion will work just fine. Yep, you don't need floats to "dredge" just some extra hoses.. art post a picture of your highbanker/dredge u had.

i dont plan on installing floats for awhile. for now i just want to get it dredgeable. i imagine i would get a real dredge later on.

Really don't need legs. Just build a damn to support it, get pitch right and rock on. If you have jet it will need to be under water where hose and jet meet or you will loose suction. Jet to cone does not matter. That can be out of water.
Not sure if I have a picture of that dredge setup, James. Building frame for my 4" dredge now. Won't be long now. I'm taking some pictures and will post later. Just don't have the time now days.
