Hello everyone. I just made it over here from the Eastern Us forum. Still learning to navigate the site. I haven't done any prospecting in the East for many years now, but do some here in Texas. I try to make it to the mountains at least once a year and will post pics when I get some.
Good luck and good gold to y'all!

Welcome to the forums, you prospect in Texas? Prospect, Yes. Find much, no. There are rumors and pictures of gold found in what is known as the Llano Uplift area of central Texas. But there isnt much gold, and lots of private land. Ive found fly poop bits in the Brazos river in the coastal plains area. I believe it to be eroding out of sandstone left over from ancient beaches. Ive found fresh water pearls and of course the ever present arrowheads. Still looking for a piece of Topaz, that will be nice to have. JJ

Can you post some pics of the fresh water pearls? I have planned a trip there for 20 years to find pearls and still haven't made it.

I'll have to dig up a pic or two. Its a small pearl, not well shaped, but I found it in a gold pan! Who would have thought. Yea, the Brazos has a few places to kayak, both up and down river from where I've dug. Oh, and fossils. Me and a buddy went gold prospecting and he found a gator skull fossil about 24 inches long. I'll dig up some pics of that as well.

A pic of 10 pounds of lead i found metal detecting in the Little Brazos river. I think the area has been used as a shooting range for many, many years. This lead was probably shot into an bank and has eroded out. It was all found in cracks of false bedrock clay. my detector would scream and I would scoop the bullets and lead shout out of the crack with my bare hands. Had it been gold, I would have died from a heart attack! Another pic of the gator with a 14 inch pan for size comparison.
