South Africa! The TauTona Mine or Western Deep No.3 Shaft. At 3.9 kilometers (2.4 mi) deep it is currently the world's deepest gold mine. Not to mention all the gems to be mined in the surrounding areas.

The gems in Africa I would enjoy finding and can be very profitable, but you can keep 2.4 miles underground to get some gold, man it gets hot down that deep even with proper ventilation, not to mention a lot of stuff can fall down on your head, HARD, I will stick to dredging!!

While I would love to get a coil over some large buttery hunks in OZ, my first love would be the Whitlock district, in Mariposa county, with a close second being the mines of the Sierra County, like the 16-to 1.

I happened to meet the owner of this mine at a recent gold show, a former partner in the Colorado mine, and co discoverer of the dragon, which I believe is now in the Colorado Muesuem of Natural History, even if it is a Ca piece. If you like crystaline gold this is the district.... He first pocket produced 10 pounds of specimens, most that fetch 3 to 6 times spot.
