We probably ran the sluice for 3 hours Sunday, I ran maybe 2 hours Monday... most time moving big rocks so I could shovel the loose material.

I know they are there, just waiting to get to a bottom so to speak then the Gold-n-Sand comes out. We are building a 2 man manual dredge with no motor. I'll let you know how it works at the end of summer. It will basically be like gravity dredging with a little help...

Wonder if your site rules will allow some sort of hand crank system to move water around? That could help.

Also, pictures of ole' school 49 er's at work may be a clue to what can be done. Divert creek water as to dry up working area and just dig like a mad man, then process later.

That's kinda my next plan... reduce the water level to a minimum at least... We are relocating a dam we built last year further up stream to uncover the gravels where the dam is now... its a process to move tons of rock and logs in a day or two, this weekend we have 3. However there is so much flow sand upstream backed up behind the dam every time we make a change the hole gets flooded with the sand... That's the main reason we have to keep re-digging the same hole just to get back to where we were...

Is there a way to reroute the water? Like they did in the old days. A flume to carry water and over burden over and away from hole.
