What is the average length a hose should be on a 5" dredge or any size dredge for that matter? Need to ask before I cut mine down. Setting at 21' now plus another 6' of jet and flair to box.

I'd say about 3ft longer than James would be ideal for a creek dredge. So about 14'-15' of hose should be long enough to get to the deeper spots but short enough to work the banks without being looped up. Also keeps you at a close enough range to keep an eye on the box or clear a jam.

Which is nearly half of hose and weigh there of. I guess I could always make a splice if I wanted to.

I cut it to 15'. I don't see me needing any longer hose. I did consider the length and distance before cutting. Also, bow in hose to enter hole. My concern was jams at the center of that long hose. Tired of fighting those damn clogs and weight of hose. So I have 15' of hose, 36" of jet and another 48" of flair before box and can ram both ends now for fast unclog.

What I'm thinking. With that long hose... I had to swim most of the time to box to keep from busting my rear on slick rocks. Circus act no doubt!

I got 9.2 feet and losing 6 or so inches everytime I go dredging. Someone left the hose in the sun all last year.

I suggest storing your dredge in a shed. Would be cheaper that way my friend. Change the oil! Would be bad to lose a motor.

Yevis sounds like you need to sell some of that big gold and buy a hose
