This is how we run in fast water. The classifier makes a great dampener. And shovel straight in... This is why I can never give exact amounts we run, I shovel like a mad man and Scott keeps the classifier running and clearing.

Great idea. I always used a bucket. How does the screen hold up shoveling into it? No destroying screen? Small creeks and a well setup production sluice can really punch out a hole.

I drop overloaded shovels with big rocks, haven't broke one yet. Now that I said that I'll probably break this one next weekend... lol

That's also why I say I can out shovel a 2-2.5" dredge most any day...

If you guys are working that same hole all the time... why not build some type of hopper/screen deal that will work and ride over the sluice to max the shovel area instead of small screen? Kinda like a long tom type deal.

Wouldn't shaking the water like that so close to the riffles cause gold loss?

I too was cautious about that, but after a few years of running like this... have you seen my cleanups? lol and I do test all tailings. no gold to minimal fly poop... the production box is as such and it takes a lot to blow out the gold in this one. like maybe flipping it over... lol also what makes you think we shake the water? the water does most the work by itself. just a little stirring and the main underflow remains the same...

Interesting, I just assumed you shook or swirled the classifier. May have to give this a try some time.

It must work well. Look at their clean outs and Loki is only showing us the small stuff. Lol.

What size classifier are you using? Here's what I and few guys I know do, it a paint roller screen.

#4 mesh the same as I would if I were to classify into bucket or tub...
